Who does Kit Bond Represent?

I noticed that our senior U.S. Senator from MO must be having a difficult time making a living or trying to make ends meet.  That surely is the reason that Senator Kit Bond was one of only six senators that voted against freezing salaries for members of Congress. He justified his against the freeze by telling the New York Times "not everyone in the Senate is a multimillionaire." It must be very difficult to get by on only $162,100.00 per year. (His monthly salary exceeds my annual income)  And I thought he was there to protect the interests of Missourians and not the welfare of his peers.
It appears that he is becoming increasingly out of touch with the true values of his Missouri constituents. Just last week Kit was one of nine senators that voted against an anti-torture bill. This legislation was led by Sen. John McCain (himself a former POW) in hopes of restoring America's image abroad and was made in the wake of and in response to the abuse scandals of Abu Ghraib & Guantanamo Bay. Can he realistic believe that these votes represent the views of the citizens he represents? It appears he is more concerned to helping his colleagues and following the dictates of the Bush White House.

He used to be a multi-millionaire...

It should be noted that Kit Bond was a multi-millionaire when he arrived in Washington, DC, but he blew through his inheritance by living an irresponsible lifestyle.

MO political watchers will recall that when he went broke, the anti-lawyer Bond rushed to sue his investment advisor, claiming that they had mismanaged his trust fund.  However, it was ultimately revealed that the real problem was the Bond was spending the corpus.

It's pretty difficult to come up with an investment strategy that will stay ahead of profligate spending.
