License Offices

I recall seeing much propaganda about closing State License Offices and giving them to political cronies. The Branson office is operated by the Chamber of Commerce, a political high dollar plum for them. I went there today, expecting a long line, since it was the last week in the month and year, only to find the message on the door: Closed December 23, 26th and 27th. Here are the office hour posted on the Department of Revenue's website for the Branson License Office: BRANSON CONTRACT OFFICE 1447C STATE HIGHWAY 248 BRANSON, MO 65616-0000 Telephone: 417-334-2496 Fax: 417-339-4260 OFFICE HOURS MON - FRI 8:30 - 5:00 I hope they had a nice Holiday vacation, off Friday and Tuesday, a couple extra days, and the public be damned. Stand in line Wednesday through Friday. This is the good service that private contractors provide Matty Boy!! DavidRust

License Fee Offices

After giving this a little more thought, my blood pressure has risen a couple points. This Office is a Cash Cow for the Branson Chamber of Commerce. They already receive millions of tax dollars for "Marketing Branson". I'm not sure if they know how and where they have marketed it in the past, as each year retail goes down from the year before. I would like to know what the fees are this office collects each year for the Branson Chamber of Commerce. The State of Missouri has provided millions of dollars to this community that comstantly has its hand out. I think of this each day as I cross the two bridges coming into town, one being the bridge over Lake Taneycomo, and see the concrete eroded away and the steel exposed. Traffic is stopped daily waiting a turn through a stop sign at East 76, and while sitting on the Taneycomo Bridge a passing truck will shake the bridge up and down. Its probably 100 years old. The only chance of it being replaced would be for it to just give away and fall in the Lake. One eroded place in the floor of the bridge had a 2 X 6 piece of lumber in it for a couple months. When they could not keep the lumber in place they took it out, and you chug your wheels through this hole in in the bridge at each crossing. Thanks MODOT and Governor Blunt for attending to our Highway Needs. DavidRust
