GOP Tries To Sidestep "Official Religion" Resolution
Here's a PD story on Rep. Sater's "official religion" resolution.
Note how Speaker Pro Tem Carl Bearden tries to downplay it.
This is the GOP strategy on everything. They attempt to pander to their base privately, and then say publicly that their actions have no real meaning.
It will be interesting to see how that works out for them.
Senator Talent, what's you position on this matter? Do you intend to show any leadership on this matter? Or are you too weak to lead?

We Should Encourage the Leadership to Bring it to the Floor
It's a mistake to criticize the relious fanatics for introducing this slop-Let's hope it comes up for a vote-it will be a no win situation to for the Republicans. If they vote for it their are relgious nuts-if they vote against it they hate fundamentalists. I sure hope Speaker Jetton brings this up.
state religion
I dont what on earth is going here in Missouri. Last week we had the story about Annapolis, Missouri where the school voted to allow the Gideons to have a Bible give away during class time, which btw is an endorsement of christianity. This board was advises by their own superintendent Homer Lewis, The ACLU and the schools own lawyers this was illegal and they decided to do it anyway. A school of all places...where they teach government seems to be ignorant of the separation of church ans state.
Now this...trying to make christianity a state religion! I can see the headlines now...
Missouri's new state religion is christianity...to hell with everyone else!
I guess the first amendment dont apply to Missouri?
What the hell is going on here?
Official Christianity
So our country was founded on Christianity? You mean the kind where "Christians" had to flee from other "Christians" due to persecution? You mean the kind where "Christians" shackled other of God's children -- black and white -- in institutional and industrial slavery? You mean the kind where "Christians" call for war and assassinations against other of God's children? You mean the kind where "Christians" can ONLY vote Republican or risk certain condemnation to hell? Gotcha ...
