Wow! Klumb’s got momentum!

· Klumb has over $100,000 in cash on hand, with total receipts of $112,202!

· Klumb was given more in campaign contributions than all four other candidates combined!

· Klumb raised contributions at a rate of more than $1000 a day, every day since he filed for the 10th Senatorial District!

Former Democratic State Representative Jason Klumb raised more than the other four candidates combined in his race for Missouri’s 10th Senatorial District and has amassed a campaign war chest of over $100,000.

In 2004, this is what the Kansas City Star said about Klumb:

“Klumb is an impressive up-and-comer in the Democratic Party.” “His energy and ideas make him stand out as a candidate . . .”

Last month the Kansas City Star reported:

“Former state Rep. Jason Klumb, a lawyer, has emerged as the early front-runner to succeed state Sen. Charlie Wheeler.”

There is no question now that Klumb remains the front-runner.

According to reports filed today with the Missouri Ethics Commission, Klumb showed monetary contributions received as $56,889. Jolie Justus showed $21,488. Mike Flaherty and Republican Jerry Mounts reported $0 in monetary contributions received. Both reported personal loans to their campaigns. Ingrid Burnett’s report was not available.

Klumb has more cash on hand that any of the five candidates in the race, and is the only candidate to report over $100,000 total receipts at $112,202.

Klumb filed for the 10th Senatorial District on February 28th, shortly after incumbent Senator Charles Wheeler announced that he would run for Jackson County Executive. Since then contributors have been lining up to support him, averaging contributions of over $1000 per day.

Klumb commented: “It is very gratifying to have such broad based support from civic and community leaders throughout the district and the state. My campaign is gaining momentum every day, and as your State Senator, I look forward to using my experience and energy to represent the people of the 10th District.”

Klumb, 37, has spent most of his professional life serving the public. After working for Governor Carnahan, Klumb was elected to the House of Representatives in 1992. At 24, he became one of the youngest members ever to serve in the Missouri legislature. As a State Representative, Klumb served on the Ways & Means Committee, the Appropriations Committee for General Administration, and as Vice-Chair of the Commerce Committee. He championed legislation to expand voter participation, to improve education for Missouri’s children, and to provide affordable health care.

Klumb is a Captain in the Missouri National Guard JAG (Judge Advocate General) Corps and was an Assistant Attorney General in Kansas City.

Klumb graduated from William Jewell College, the University of Missouri School of Law, and received a Masters Degree from the London School of Economics. He has been married seven years to Begonya Klumb. They have a daughter, Sofia, born last year in Kansas City.

how democratic

Money talks, but where are your democratic values? The truth of the matter is, Klumb moved here specifically for this seat. If you ask me, it's dangerous to elect a Senator who hasnt proven to this district that he actually cares about us....aside from when asking for money of course.

Total Contributions

Wow that's a lot of money! Fantastic job Jason. Just curious, Jason reports a total of $112,202 total and $56K from monetary donations.  Where does the difference come from?

Also, I think I asked before, I'm new to Kansas City and am just sorting through the 10th District candidates.  Does anyone know how long Jason has lived in Kansas City and what sort of work he's done in Kansas City?  Bios I've read indicate he was a representative from the Butler, MO area.  Please someone fill me in on his KC history.

Thanks!

Pete

If i remember correctly he wa

If i remember correctly he was living in Harrisonville when he ran for State Treasurer in 2004.  So, he's been in the 10th Disrict (specifically in Brookside) for less than two years.

Thanks Eric

So he was a State Rep from Butler, ran for Treasurer while in Harrisonville and is now running for State Senate in Kansas City.  He sure gets around. I hope his opponents don't tag him as a carpetbagger, picking up shop and moving to find the highest profile open office for which to run.  Such an inference may be damaging.

Great Job Jason

Congratulations and keep it up!
