The High Street Project

If you only read one thing today besides your Bible, make it this editorial from the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

Here is some additional background:

The editorial mentions Garrett Lott and describes him as a former official with the Blunt and Ashcroft campaign. Mr. Lott remains as Secretary and a member of the board of directors of Missourians For Matt Blunt, Inc. Until January of this year, Mr. Lott was the Treasurer of Senator Jim Talent's re-election committee.

The address for the Talent committee is the offices or Mr. Lott, the same offices that he runs his fee office scheme out of. In January, Mr. Talent removed Mr. Lott as Treasurer of his committee. However, in March, Mr. Lott was restored as Custodian of Records for the campaign. In addition, Mr. Lott is President of the Talent for Senate Exploratory Committee, Inc. which Talent reinstated as a corporation in January of this year.

And those who have been following the shenanigans of the Blunt administration won't be surprised to learn that the registered agent for Missourians for Matt Blunt, Inc. is none other than Lathrop & Gage attorney, Thor Hearne. Hearne is a lawyer for a GOP front group that is promoting a photo ID requirement that would disenfranchise as many as 200,000 Missourians.

Incidentally, SB1014 also requires the state to pay all costs associated with issuing the driver's licenses and state id's under RSMO 136.055, which are the fees paid to Governor Blunt's cronies who run the fee offices.

That measure could generate up to $1 million in additional revenue for Governor Blunt's fee agent scheme.

HIGH STREEET PROJECT

Eat your heart out, former Governor Ryan of Illinois.  You guys got nuthin' compared to what we got in Missouri.  Too bad it's so disgraceful and embarrassing to the good people of this state.  Gracie
