Kurt Schaefer, Attorney for Polluters, to Prosecute Ameren??
The Blunt administration recently announced that it will not use the Attorney General's office to go after Andy Blunt's client, AmerenUE, but will instead use DNR lawyers.
Who would they choose to do that? Well, Kurt Schaefer of course. Who is Kurt Schaefer, you say? Some high-profile trial lawyer prepared to handle $100 million litigation? No. Someone with a stellar reputation standing up to corporate pollution and excess? No.
Schaefer is the guy who was tapped to fix the Fred Ferrell "personnel matter." He's a former partner at that old standby Lathrop and Gage (you know, the firm that set up all of the license fee management firms). Schaefer's job at Lathrop was basically to carry David Shorr's bags. Schaefer was listed as a member of the Lathrop Environmental group as late as 2004. The Turner report has done a great job of documenting all of the terrible polluters Lathrop, Shorr and Schaefer represented during that time frame and today. Let's see, who will do a better job against Ameren, the A.G. or a polluter's attorney? Guess the public will get to decide.

Fred Ferrell "personnel matter" isn't fixed
I don't believe everyone considers the Fred Ferrell "personnel matter" to be fixed. Maybe the "powers that be" should pay a little more attention to the little people they try to sweep under the rug.
NO Wonder Blunt Wants Nixon Off the Investigation
What do Waddel and Reed and Ameren have in common?  Both have hired the Blunt siblings as lobbyist... In both cases, Matt Blunt has attempted to kick off an independent investigator in an effort to protect his brother's and sister's clients. No wonder he wants Nixon off the case.Â
It has become apparent that this entire administration from Matt Blunt on down to James Harris is not interested in governing, but interested in using government service for personal gain.  They are arrogant enought to think they can get away with it and they have cowed the media so that they can.  Cowing the media is the first step in establishing despotic rule. Â
I wonder what the insurance company is going to react
when they hear what Childers had to say? Do you think they'll be happy?Â
"Right now it appears that insurance would cover the cost," he said.
"If it becomes a criminal case, the insurance would be no good."

Childer Surrenders to Ameren
UPDATE: Looks like Doyle Childers is throwing in the towel already. He told the Southeast Missourian that he wants to settle and stick the insurance company with the bill. Good negotiating there Doyle. Tell your opponent up front that you don't want to sue, that's sure to get us a good deal.
