jefferson county,missouri in the 80's

jefferson county wasnt a boring place to be in the 80's.

young lady was abducted of of festus,mo parking lot
earls son of festus mayor charged friday with murder. just In case of you that dont know this story it was 1986.richard'ricky'edward earls was the son of festus,mo mayor charles earls .he shot he shot to death kevin howard hubbard the nephew of state rep william'bud'lewis of desoto
i didnt even know this happened till i was reading microfilm newspapers much later in years .it surprised me.i was at that same bar that night in festus,mo.i didnt see anything except a man slumped over setting at the bar and men circled around him.
after my friend and i left the bar we went to a  quick shop close  to the festus post office.there was two men in a camper truck.white camper with animal emblems on it and the truck was red.they had binoculars in there truck.they were watching a schene that been roped off and they said a man was shot.at the time i didnt know i was going to read about it later in the years in a library.
and the post dispatch couldnt say it any better
nixon spent more then three times his opponents did during his primary ,but he bridles  at the suggestion that he bought his senate seat.
he offered his first bill.it was designed to establish a regional crime lab in jefferson county.making it eligible for state and federal funds.
lord knows what else went on in this county nin the 80's
