Can Kansas City Afford the Becky Nace Administration?

It might be easy to get lost in the field of candidates for the Kansas City mayor's race, and I think that is exactly what Becky Nace was hoping for. Lucky for us, we have the facts. There are three things that pop up upon an initial glance at her campaign finance reports, three supporters that could end up costing the city an incredible amount of money should she take office:

1) Vouchers- Rex Sinquefield, the voucher king, has given over $1,200 dollars to the Nace for Mayor Campaign. Not a surprise, since his pockets run deep and he often contributes to Republican candidates. Nevertheless, he is a kingpin of the anti-public school movement and always gives his money accordingly.

2) Anti-Cure- Matt Bartle, known for only getting involved in anti-stem cell campagins, has given over $4,000 to Becky Nace. After Bartle's exploits on the Senate floor last week, he would obviously not give any money to those who have not promised to stop promoting hope and cures.

3) Government Corruption- Jewell Patek, implicated in the High Street Project and other questionable activities, has give over $1,200 to Nace though his many LLC's (Election Day Enterprises being one). Is it plausible that he would give money for any other reason than to expect something on the back-end? Doubtful.

So, the question remains, can Kansas City afford Becky Nace. If she wants to take money out of public schools (schools that can't afford it), work to end the major business investments that stem cell research provides to the city, and will be giving in to the corrupt practices currently being exercised in Jefferson City and formerly the subject of an FBI investigation than there is a very simple answer; No.

There is an old saying, put your money where your mouth is. By looking
at who is contributing to candidates, we can make reasonable
assumptions about where their policy positions will fall. In just a
glance, we found these three donors with clear interests. Who knows
what we will find as we delve deeper into the Nace coffers.
