I learned a long time ago that when Sen. Jean Carnahan asks you if you want to do something, you might as well say yes, because she will eventually talk you into it anyway.
But with this project, she didn’t need to do any convincing. When she first proposed the idea of a community where people could come for the free exchange of ideas, I told her I was Fired Up and ready to go!
As some of you know, I have been blogging off and on since the summer of 2003, while working around campaigns. I believe that many of our current leaders are wrong-headed and I enjoy having a forum to say so.
But the main reason I am excited to be a part of Fired Up is because lots of like-minded people can join together, exchange information and ideas, and decide to take action, fighting for the things we believe in.
As citizens, it’s our job to help keep our political leaders honest—and the media, too. And, if all goes well, maybe those folks down in southeast Missouri, like my parents, won’t be 100% dependent on Gary Rust and his newspaper empire to get their political news anymore.
I’m sure you won’t always agree with every opinion expressed here. But as fair-minded people, we aren’t threatened by that—we welcome it!
