A Must Watch! You Paid for it: Photo ID

In case you missed it earlier this week, make sure you watch Fox STL's Elliott Davis on "You Paid For It."

The story is shocking as it points out the huge amount of taxpayer dollars last year wasted on the GOP's Photo ID to Vote scheme.

Besides the hundreds of thousands of wasted dollars, note the flippant attitude of Governor Blunt and his insistence that the expensive, unconstitutional law that would potentially disenfranchise over 200,000 registered Missouri voters (mostly elderly, disabled, and poor) is still a good idea.

One piece missing from the story:  By September 11, 2006, the Department of Revenue had issued photo IDs to less than 1% of the number of registered voters who who would need them to vote only two months later in the high profile US Senate race.  Fortunately for Missouri voters, the law was ruled unconstitutional and suspended by September 14.

Of course Mr. Davis' story sits nicely against the backdrop of the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division/US Attorney national scandal to do anything it takes - including passing expensive, regressive voting laws -- to secure Republican power in government.
