No Room for Christophers in the Party of Huckabee

Tonight's victory in Iowa by Mike Huckabee shows why people named Chris (i.e Koster and Benjamin) and other semi-intelligent folks are leaving the GOP.  The party has been totally high-jacked by the right wing.  Reagan reached out to the religious right to form a coalition to fight democrats, but now that religious zealotry can no longer be controlled and it is going to be a major continuing problem for the GOP.  Sort of reminds you of some guys who years ago armed some other guys to fight Russians in countries no one ever heard of.  We made them so strong they turned on us.

We need to reach out to Christians

I think we need to reach out to Christians not try to compair them to the Taliban. Howard Dean says we received a third of the Evangelical vote in the last election. This was up from past recent elections. Christians have supported environmental issues as well as having a past history of support for civil rights. I believe as Democrats we can win by letting people of all faiths know we want what is best for our state an our country. I realize you were not criticizing all Christians; however,when Reagan reached out to the religious right they had been democrats. We need to let them know they will be respected.
