McCaskill...Friend or Foe?

The following voted to grant retroactive immunity to the telecoms for violating the law and the Constitution:

The final tally was 31-67. Crossing over to vote "nay" were the following:

Jay Rockefeller (D-WV),
Evan Bayh (D-IA),
Daniel Inouye (D-HI),
Tim Johnson (D-SD),
Herb Kohl (D-WI),
Mary Landrieu (D-LA),
Claire McCaskill (D-MO),
Mark Pryor (D-AR),
Blanche Lincoln (D-AR),
Dianne Feinstein (D-CA),
Ken Salazar (D-CO),
Tom Carper (D-DE),
Barbara Mikulski (D-MD),
Jim Webb (D-VA),
Ben Nelson (D-NE),
Bill Nelson (D-FL),
Kent Conrad (D-ND), and
Debbie Stabenow (D-MI).
Joe Lieberman.

Anyone but me outraged about this? I think McCaskill needs to hear from Missouri~!

I called her office

The gentleman that answered the phone stated that Claire didn't want to see the telecoms punished after the Bush Admin promised that what they were doing was legal. She feels that the administration is at fault, not the telecoms. Could we please put impeachment back on the table?

Poor Telecoms

Once again the government has to come and rescue big business because they didn't know what they were doing.

Weepin' Jesus on the cross, don't these guys have any attorneys who could have figured this out for themselves? They actually took the President's word that it was legal!?! What pumpkin truck did they just fall off of?

This makes the Senator's vote even more suspect. Who is she representing telecoms or the constitution?

C'mon Claire, act like you got a pair!

Let McCaskill know how you feel.

Our only recourse, for now, is to let her know how we feel about her vote on the FISA bill. You can email her at http://www.mccaskill.senate.gov/contact.cfm . Then later on we will have another opportunity to voice our opinion on her priorities and her actions. To her defenders, I have never expected perfection from her or anyone else, but I do expect her to do the right thing. The right thing would have been to stand on the side of those who would defend our constitutional rights.

Constitutional rights?

Interesting you bring up Constitutional rights.  Odd the things Congress involves itself in -- baseball steroids, bridges to nowhere ... Now that you mention it, if you really want someone to ensure a truly constitutional government, how about trying to do something different with your vote?  Just a thought.

Too Bad for Claire

That vote from Senator Claire is a major disappointment. She has a ways to go if she wants to gain a national reputation as a leader. Senator Tom Dodd gets big points for his fight on this issue.

You are not the only one

You are not the only one who is NOT a happy camper...  but with some of the biggest telecoms in the state are you surprised?  I guess if you have enough money, breaking the law and buying immunity is easy... too bad the buck stopped with Harry, and not with Claire as she claimed...

Yep...

too bad the buck stopped with Harry, and not with Claire as she claimed...

She's a traitor as far as I'm concerned.
