Dear Congressman Hulshof and Treasurer Steelman,
Today, Matt Blunt's taxpayer-funded attack machine official press shop put out a release [1] that included this bit of petulant foolishness from chief of staff Trish Vincent, who has clearly made the complete transition from career public servant to full-on raving wingnut hack:
"To date, you [Nixon] have not produced any documents reflecting any such e-mail retention policy in effect prior to January 1, 2008," wrote Gov. Blunt’s Chief of Staff Trish Vincent. "Your failure to produce any record of an e-mail retention policy prior to this year suggests that your office had no e-mail retention prior to January 1, 2008."
So Mr. Congressman and Madam Treasurer, do either or both of you believe that Governor Blunt's use of his official press shop for political attacks is an appropriate use of state resources, with the bill footed by taxpayers? In the extremely unlikely event that either of you was to be elected Governor in 2016, would you allow your chief of staff to send out political assaults on official letterhead and lay low the office even further than Matt Blunt has already managed?
In the face of your silence on this issue, we'll sadly have no choice but to interpret sealed lips as an implicit endorsement of the behavior of the man whom you both wish to succeed.
