Carnahan stands up to big securities firm for small investors

In a remarkable example of government leveling the playing field between everyday Missourians and large corporate interests, Robin Carnahan's Office lead a multi-state, on-site investigation of Wachovia Securities Monday.  

Wachovia has been accused of misleading small investors about the safety and liquidity of certain investments.  The large securities firm has been stonewalling investigators from Missouri and other states.

Carnahan had this to say about plight of small investors who bought securities recommend by Wachovia:

"Hundreds of Missouri investors have called my office because of an inability to access their money. They were told these investments were safe and easy to cash in, but now they cannot run their businesses, make medical payments or pay school tuition."
