Political Director Position for the LeVota for Missouri Committee
* Helps the House Democratic Leader Paul LeVota prioritize his duties
* Conduct meetings with constituents, lobbyists, other legislative members and their staffs as necessary either with House Democratic Leader or on his behalf
* Coordinate fundraising activities for Leaders initiatives
* Oversee e-mail, database, and daily schedule
* Knowledge of local press and press-release writing a plus
* Must be able to handle multiple projects/tasks at once without losing sight of priorities
* Must have excellent proficiency in: - Website management skills - Writing skills - Research skills
* Must be detail oriented and thorough, but able to condense information quickly for presentation to the House Democratic Leader
* Able to elicit complex information from various sources
* Must feel comfortable taking face-to-face meetings and speaking on the phone
* Must have TEAM attitude, but work independently, be self motivated and self starter* Must be politically oriented and interested in policy and politics
* Discretion and mature attitude a must
* Knowledge of Missouri and Jackson County politics a plus
* Must perform basic office functions such as answer phones, filing, letter writing and anything else that comes up
* Must be flexible
Qualified candidates should have managed at least one campaign and have at least 2 years of political campaign/organizing experience. A proven track record in coalition building, grass roots organizing, financial oversight, and public speaking is a must. An ability to work with diverse communities and maintain a sense of humor is equally important.
Position based in Independence and Jefferson City.
