Kinder wants taxpayer money for another pro-sports stadium

There he goes again.

According to recently released state records, Lt. Governor Peter Kinder is advocating for taxpayers to pick up the bill for another pro-sports stadium.

At a June 17th meeting of the Missouri Development Finance Board, Kinder told his fellow Commissioners that he supported spending $30 million in taxpayer money for a 18,500 seat stadium for the Kansas City Wizards pro soccer team.

Missouri taxpayers will recall that Kinder has a long history of sports themed boondoggles, including the following:

  • Taxpayer funding for a new Cardinal's stadium in St. Louis
  • Taxpayer funding for the Tour of Missouri bike race
  • Taxpayer payoff of the debt from Kinder's 2007 Tour of Missouri bike race
