Rasmussen: Nixon - 57% Hulshof -38%

Rasmussen Reports has just released its latest poll results for the Missouri Governor's race and Jay Nixon continues to dominate:

Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon has opened his biggest lead ever over Congressman Kenny Hulshof in the race for Missouri’s next governor. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state finds the Democrat leading 57% to 38%.

Highlights:

  • These numbers reflect a slight improvement for Nixon from September when he led 54%-39%;
  • Nixon is supported by 91% of voters in his party, Hulshof is backed by only 78% of Republicans.
  • Nixon currently holds a dominating edge among unaffiliated voters in Missouri.  
  • Women favor Nixon by a 56% to 37% margin, while men support the Democrat 58% to 40%.
  • Nixon is viewed favorably by 62% of voters and unfavorably by 32%. Hulshof’s ratings are 46% favorable, 47% unfavorable

Barack Obama also slightly increased his lead over John McCain in the polling data released today:

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state finds Obama with 52% of the vote while McCain is supported by 46%. Earlier this week, Obama was on top 50% to 47%.
