Crazy Eddie Martin's New Scheme

Crazy Eddie Martin, looking for a shiny object to distract reporters from digging any deeper into his misuse and destruction of official government resources as well as his lying to the public, now has a new ballot scheme to impose term limits on Missouri's statewide elected officials (Governor and Treasurer already have them).

So, Crazy Eddie doesn't trust Missouri voters to choose who represents them in office. This is not a surprising policy position from an extremist who doesn't trust that women can make decisions about their own health and doesn’t trust professional scientists to find lifesaving cures.

And the lack of reason and logic in pushing this structural policy change in Missouri? Classic nonsensical Eddie...

In his news release, he says:

"Missourians have been clear: they want their elected officials to serve a limited time in office.”

But he also says:

"The most recent example of statewide elected office extending for far longer than eight years is Attorney General Jay Nixon who served for 16 years as attorney general."

Really? So, re-electing a popular and effective attorney general four times is a sign that “Missourians want their elected officials to serve a limited time in office”?  Hm…All that, and they still voted for Jay Nixon for governor, delivering him a landslide of 19%.

Maybe Ed has part of it right.  Missourians have been clear, all right – they were crystal clear that they wanted Matt Blunt and the Republicans to serve a limited time in the statewide office.  Not because of an arbitrary legal limit set by political consultants, but because Blunt (with Eddie’s and the Republican legislature’s help) drove Missouri’s economy into the ground, stripped hundreds of thousands off their health care, and misused and mistook the Office of Missouri Governor as a political attack organization.

This explains why democrats will now hold five out of six statewide offices – Missourians trust them to do a good job and deserve the chance to re-elect them when they do.  But that’s got to be scary for Eddie and his future career prospects.  I guess he’s decided once again that when you can’t win fairly, change the rules.
