The Bridge at Molle Dozier Chute

No, it's not the new World War II thriller starring Tom Cruise.­

It's incoming House Speaker Ron Richard's dream for economic development in mid-Missouri.

Richard is proposing that a new Missouri River bridge be shoe-horned into a legislative deal to build an additional nuclear power unit at Ameren's Callaway plant.

The $50 million bridge would link Chamois (pop. 456) and the Molle Dozier Chute (pop. 0).

No word on how much it would cost the state to relocate bridge users to the area. 

And no word on how the bridge would impact sensible plans by locals to start cost-effective ferry service at the crossing.

In the words of Sarah Pal­in, "thanks, but no thanks.""­
