Engler hardly working

Every day, more Missourians lose their jobs, their homes and their hope for a better life.

Governor Nixon and some Republicans have put forward a plan to create more jobs in the state and help Missourians weather the economic storm.  And Nixon has appointed a highly regarded Economic Development Director to lead the state's critical job-creation effort.

But meanwhile, in the GOP Senate, the Majority Floor Leader is engaging in horse-play.  Kevin Engler is spending his time proposing that littering be made a capital punishment offense.

And the committee he vice-chairs is running with job-killing scissors by filibustering the appointment of a State Economic Development Director.

Which makes you wonder if Engler is up to the task ahead during these tough times.  For better or for worse, we will soon find out.
