House GOP: Crutches, Eyeglasses, and Hearing Aids Extravagant

This KC Star story points out just how rotten the decisions Republicans are making in the House are when it comes to health care services.  In order to restore some services that Blunt proposed cutting, the House GOP is proposing to price other working families out of health care coverage for their children.

But this takes the cake:

The [GOP] plan still would cut $10.2 million by eliminating coverage for hearing aids, eyeglasses, crutches and other medical equipment.

Sister Mary Lou Stubbs had this to say:

Sister Mary Lou Stubbs, executive director of Seton Center Family and Health Services in Kansas City, said Missouri appears “pretty stingy with the people in need.”

She said taking money from the CHIP program was “like a balloon when you push in one side — out pops the other.”

These are fragile populations who are dependent on the state for basic health care, she said.

“No one should get hurt,'' Stubbs said. “They are playing us against each other.''
