Yesterday's Primary

What was the biggest surprise/most interesting thing to come out of yesterday's primary?

Kosternation about the election

"Core" democrats have only ourselves to blame when a politically expedient candidate like Koster wins. Koster didn't put a gun to Molly's head to file and dilute Margaret's vote. Koster didn't tell Democrats to stay home and not vote. Where were the women who lost the benefits of the funding of health exams previously provided to community action centers and Planned Parenthood clinics. Koster had the most money, the best understanding of what people look for in an Attorney General and absolutely no core principles, other than what's best for Chris to succeed. He also had the support of the leadership in the state Democratic Party. That's right. In spite of his horrible "Democratic" record (which was ably demonstated by the Harris consultants), in spite of the fact the man actively campaigned for John Ashcroft against Mel Carnahan in the 2000 race, the leadership of the party was just happy to have a "convert" and so they stood silent, ignoring the substantive evidence of the political expediency of Koster. Hmmmmmmm I think Koster voted for everything that Governor Blunt supported and Jay Nixon is running against, ironical isn't it? Should be an interesting attorney-client relationship. Oh well trial attorneys and unions one thing is sure, you will get all of the loyalty from Koster that you can afford.

Weak AG candidates..

Harris and Donnelly had no business being on the ballot in the first place if they could take out Koster. Here is a guy that worked in Webster's AG Office, jeesh, bad votes on Medicaid and Mohela. Thanks for nothing, Margaret and Jeff. In a high Republican Governor primary turnout, they couldn't even beat a guy with little to none Dem credentials. No excuses. Bet on which one asks Jay for the paid appointment first?.. hmm Jeff Harris - Dept of Economic Development..

This was pretty interesting...

a. g. race

i was disappointed, as well. i supported jeff harris, but would have been happy with margaret donnelly. i cannot support koster, however. upon our first meeting, he blatantly lied to me about his position on issues and his voting history in jeff city. i hadn't asked him where he stood; he volunteered all this. obviously, even he didn't believe in the positions he held. perhaps he doesn't have any core principals at all, except garnering the maximum amount of money and votes. please don't "call me out" as a troll. i've been a strong democratic supporter my entire life, but in this instance i can't vote for someone just because they have a "d" next to their name. he's no better than the bunch he left, in my opinion. it's possible he might even return to the republican party at some point, if it would further his ambitions.

Vote split

Most of us feel the same way as you do. We divided our votes between the two best candidates and they lost. So sad.

GOP has a little tiny tent

I think what we learned is that there is no room in the GOP for any ideas other than those imposed by their leadership. Koster had to leave the party and, regardless of his history, appears to be a full convert to Democrat ideas (read his magnanimous and amazing speech last night). Steelman had some conservative credentials, but didn't fit their perfect mold so they kicked her out. There's no room left in their party for moderates or those who dare disagree with the small group who run that show. Our message in November should be that the extremists in the Republican party have clearly taken over and the only place for the main stream is with Democrats.

Jeff Harris

I was sure Jeff Harris would win...sigh

Attorney General race

I wanted to support the AG candidate that had the best chance of beating Koster.  I liked Donnelly, but thought Harris had the best chance.  That was partially based on the poll at this site.  But Donnelly came closest to beating Koster.  I should have voted for her.  Just 1000 people switching from Harris to Donnelly would have done the trick.  Oh well, maybe Koster won't be so bad.

Look at it this way . . .

Look at it this way . . . come November we'll have two Republicans to choose between for Attorney General.  So it doesn't make any difference which we choose.  Democrats lose.

I am feeling exactly the

I am feeling exactly the same way this morning.
