PD Story On Missouri Millennium Fund Raises Far More Questions Than It Answers
Today's story in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch regarding the money Jack Abramoff funneled to Missouri Republicans via the Missouri Millennium Fund raises far more questions than it answers.
While I applaud Shesgreen for taking on a story that others Missouri journalists have yet to touch, she sure was gentle with Kit Bond.
"I don't know Mr. Abramoff, and I can't say how he got the idea" to donate to the fund, he said.
Why can't you say Kit? Can't say is different from don't know, isn't it?
Here's an idea. Perhaps they gave because someone asked. So Kit, who asked? Was it you? If not, who was it?
Let's see, who else was on the ballot in Missouri in 2002? That's right, Jim Talent was, and didn't the Missouri Republican Party, who benefitted mightily from the generosity of Mr. Abramoff and his clients, spend millions on Talent's behalf in 2002. Yep, sure did.
And who was the treasurer of the Missouri Millenium Fund? Oh, that's right. It was Garrett Lott, the same guy who was treasurer of Jim Talent's campaign in 2002.
There's so much more to come......

All the way to the TOP
The only consolation I have about the Abramoff slimy affair...is that
so far, it only implicates REPUBLICANS...
However, if any Democrats are involved... I would hope we can also get honest replacements for them.... Slime is slime...no matter who it involves. And I do believe, before the Abramoff affair is over, it will go all the way to the Oval Office !
I have already begun to GOTV here in Stone Co. Missouri
GOP Spin tries to make it bipartisan
There are a few Dems that seem to be recipients of 2nd or 3rd hand Abramoff money, particularly Harry Reid and Byron Dorgan, mostly through the Searchlight Political Fund, but it appears the contributions to a few Dems were selective to states with tribal lands, and some appear to have been donated AFTER certain legislation was passed. So there may be some collateral Dem damage in all of this, hard to say, but not to the level at which the GOP talking heads claim it to be "bipartisan". Abramoff himself hasn't done any donating recently to any democrats.
