MU Poli Sci Prof: Gaw In Best Position To Win Missouri's 9th

Check out this KBIA interview with MU Political Science Professor Marvin Overby, in which he says that a candidate like Steve Gaw is best positioned to win Missouri's 9th for the Democrats this year.

According to Overby, Gaw's profile--his rural roots and rural appeal--will put him in a position to draw votes from across the entire district.

Rosenbaum also picks up the story over at the CDT Politics Blog.

Primary vs. General

The Professor's comments sound like a possibility for the general election, but also the reason why Steve G. will probably lose the primary.

But the Speaker has no clothes

No offense to Professor Overby, but what the heck is his basis for this opinion. Just another MU professor, big deal. This is simply a case of bad prognostication. Steve is a good guy and a true liberal, but is he a leader, is he a winner? And don't forget all of those rural women who are out there and ready to have a real woman represent the 9th District. Interesting that the good professor discounted not only the vote of the rural women, but also the leadership and fundraising efforts of Judy Baker, clearly significant in this three man, one woman race. She wasn't afraid of golden boy kenny. Judy Baker, the right principles, the right candidate, and the only candidate not afraid of an incumbent! She has the vision, the passion and leadership to win! And her fundraising totals reflects not only that she can answer the professional pol's question about fundraising ability, but she also has the most charisma and energy of the candidates. She won't wait for polls or pols to tell her what to do. She is truly FIRED UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
