Blunt's Higher Education Cuts/Backdoor Tax Hike
Reasons more change is needed at Three Rivers Community College
Submitted by Anna Boone on Fri, 10/10/2008 - 9:03am.It looks as if an “anonymous tip” has caused the NJCAA to examine the booster club and basketball program at TRCC. If there is a problem that is further proof the leadership at TRCC has got to go!

Submitted by Anna Boone on Sat, 05/31/2008 - 8:21am.The Blunt/Kinder axis decided to use The Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority (MOHELA) as a political tool rather than allow the organization to serve the public interest by opening the doors of higher education. Now, MOHELA will have to cut several critical student benefit programs. The damage to MOHELA was not even the result of a tax cut or spending cut but the result of gross mismanagement of the program by the Blunt/Kinder axis. A Look At Stanard and Turner’s Campaign
Submitted by Anna Boone on Mon, 03/10/2008 - 1:52pm.In the campaign for the board of Three Rivers Community College, as in most campaigns, the incumbent points at successes and tries to diminish the importance of his or her failures. For Stanard and Turner, success means the college has not yet had to shut down. Sure, things are worse than they’ve ever been. Nine superintendents, the head of a vocational technical program, Southeast Missouri Hospital, and Southeast Missouri State University do not want Three Rivers Community College Story Continued »

How much does Three Rivers Community College pay their attorneys?
Submitted by Anna Boone on Thu, 02/07/2008 - 3:20pm.The incumbent members of the Three Rivers Community College are boasting they spend $1,000,000 dollars of the college's $17,000,000 budget (5.9%) on athletics.
While this figure may be disputed, the incumbents who are running the college into the ground seem to suddenly have amnesia when asked, "How much does Three Rivers Community College spend on attorneys' and legal fees?"
When asked for copies of the budget under the sunshine law the board members suddenly seem to get angry.

Where's Kingery?
Submitted by Anna Boone on Fri, 11/23/2007 - 11:38am.Three Rivers Community College had their lobbyist and their president thank the Blunt/Kinder axis for the two million dollars all community colleges in the state of Missouri are to receive as a result of the Lewis and Clark Initiative. Of course no mention was made of the serious long term mistake the Lewis and Clark Initiative is or how the result is even higher tuition for Missourians.

TRCC's Plan "Right Now"
Submitted by Anna Boone on Thu, 11/15/2007 - 9:44am.Three Rivers Community College is attempting to open a facility in Cape Girardeau County. This is part of their ongoing war with Southeast Missouri State University and is NOT about educating people. Mineral Area College has an excellent working relationship with Southeast Missouri State University and is the logical choice to extend Community College services to the region.

Three Rivers Community College administrators hit a road block
Submitted by Anna Boone on Sun, 11/11/2007 - 8:50am.Despite claiming a “secret plan” to put a facility in Cape Girardeau County it seems Three Rivers Community College administrators hit a road block. The gang running TRCC into the ground had recently announced a plan to open the facility and ignore the wants of Southeast Missouri State University, the people of Cape Girardeau County, and taxpayers throughout Southeast Missouri. The plan seemed to entail putting in the Story Continued »

Missourians Pay More for Higher Education
Submitted by Anna Boone on Wed, 10/24/2007 - 8:25am.The Southeast Missourian Newspaper points out that tuition costs in the state of Missouri are higher than the national average. This is not surprising considering that Rod Jetton and Jason Crowell in Southeast Missouri have worked against their own local university. The republicans have encouraged and fueled the feud between Southeast Missouri State University and Three Rivers Community College. This has Story Continued »

Blunt Tuition Trauma: 19% Tuition Increase Follows Signature of "Historic" Higher Education Bill
Submitted by Cole on Mon, 06/25/2007 - 8:55pm.
Matt Blunt was right. His MoHELA sell off bill truly is historic. Its focus on gold plated buildings at the expense of higher education affordability is already producing historic results--- like the 19% tuition increase just announced by Lincoln University in Jefferson City.
Watch for other Missouri institutions to follow suit as they rely on big tuition increases to offset gubernatorial short-sightedness. And the timing couldn't be worse for the most endangered incumbent Governor in the country. Story Continued »
Will Congress Outlaw Blunt's MoHELA Scheme?
Submitted by Cole on Fri, 05/11/2007 - 7:35am.
Earlier this week, the US House passed a student loan reform bill. Among other things, the bill outlaws student loan organizations from paying schools for steering student business their way.
Yet, that's a key provision of Blunt's MoHELA scheme--- requiring the University of Missouri to increase its use of MoHELA student loans in exchange of millions of dollars of construction money.
And no doubt the weakened MoHELA will have less favorable loan terms for the students the University is required to line up for it.
Watch for Blunt to soon decry the action of "activist federal judges" when his misguided MoHELA scheme is struck down as contrary to federal law.
Blunt acknowledges Nixon is Already Governor.

Submitted by J. Carter on Fri, 02/16/2007 - 9:29am.Bob Priddy nailed it today when he said the Governor was "threatening" legislators. Revealing his true colors, the Governor yesterday threatened to cut projects and engage in the worst kind of back door deal making with MoHELA dollars meant to reduce education costs. The Governor said “I will tell you quite candidly that unless more Democratic members of the Senate support the list of projects, the list of projects will change,” Blunt said at luncheon sponsored by the Missouri Press Association. Submitted by Roy Temple on Tue, 10/24/2006 - 7:28pm.Missouri college students are being robbed of $830,000 and Governor Matt Blunt is the person who stole the money. The St. Louis Business Journal reports that Michael Cummins, the former executive director of MOHELA, is being paid $830,000 to keep quiet about problems with Governor Blunt's plans to sell MOHELA.
The Columbia Daily Tribune has previously reported that Governor Matt Blunt was personally involved in the decision to fire Cummins.
