RELEASE: Connerly Petitioner Wanted in Three States, Gathering Signatures On the Streets of Missouri

WENTZVILLE – This Sunday Wentzville Police found a Missouri Civil Rights Initiative petitioner named John Wynne (in photo at left) who is wanted in three states (ed. note: Washington, Indiana and Oregon) for voter fraud related charges.  Police were responding to a call at Kohl’s Department store about a petitioner and two community volunteers who were educating voters about the damaging impacts of the initiative.

The charges of “obtaining signatures by deception” are misdemeanors that do not warrant extradition so Wentzville Police did not take Mr. Wynne into custody on Sunday.  The petitioner has been spotted by community volunteers consistently over the last several weeks and therefore have every reason to believe he is still on the street gathering signatures for MoCRI.

Community, faith, labor, business and education leaders have lined up across the state to oppose this initiative and have mobilized to educate voters.  Teams of voter educators throughout the state stand alongside MoCRI petitioners to make sure that they approach citizens honestly and that citizens are aware of the impact the initiative would have on valued public programs.

The Uninsured in Missouri is now on the rise.  Here is a leading article in the News Leader in Springfield...

St. Louis — The number of Missourians without health insurance jumped at three times the national rate in 2006, census figures show.

In data released Tuesday, the U.S. Census Bureau reported the number of Missouri's uninsured grew by an estimated 104,000 people between 2005 and 2006 — a spike of nearly 16 percent — reaching a total of 772,000.

ACORN: Legislators should heed findings of Missouri's Secretary of State's "Voters First" Report

Voters need protection from intimidation tactics, not further restrictions

Leaders of Missouri ACORN, a community group which helped tens of thousands of African Americans and young people register to vote last year, urged elected officials to pay careful attention to the findings of a report issued by the Missouri Secretary of State today. The report, "Voters First: An Examination of the Midterm 2006 Election in Missouri," states that the "voters would benefit most from efforts to make the process of voting more transparent, efficient, and convenient, rather than costly measures designed to address alleged or unsubstantiated threats."

Nursing Home Fire

This week 10 people died in a fire in a residential care facility.  Additional  people were injured.  How sad and needless this was.  My heart goes out to the families of these people.  Now Blunt is looking for someone to blame.  Interesting that he didn't care that the person running the Department of Health and Senior Services didn't care about anything but getting people to loose weight.  Public Health is about protecting the health of the Citizens of Missouri.  Weight loss is one part - but not a mandate of DHSS. Monitoring the care given to our elderly and infirm IS a mandate.  Budget cuts, shifting of funds and the inability to fill positions left the long term care regulatory program unable to meet DHSS's statutory mandates.  Although there was an inspection in the facility that burned in March of 06, it had been 3 years since the privious one.  State law requires that all long term care facilities be inspected 2 times a year.  And it's well known in the nursing home industry that if you run a nursing home and don't like what the inspectors are finding, call the gov's office or other elected official, and the findings go away.  Who knows what the March 06 inspection really found.  Without enough trained inspecters, that mandate has not been met.  Additionally, does Blunt even care if these mandates are met?  If he doesn't see that the DHSS has the resources to do this job, what about other mandates that are not appealing to him?  The DHSS investigates food borne outbreaks in restarants; inspects child care facilities and hospitals and does much more to protect the Citizens of Mo.  Does the public know how much these programs have been cut in order to pay for speical projects or the salaries of his friends?  Let's get this figured out and fixed before the next fire.  Story Continued »

Truman for Congress: National Health Care

Let's talk for a minute or two about a top election year campaign
priority: National Health care.

There was a great article in yesterday's Springfield News Leader about tales of the uninsured in the Ozarks. According to the article, the Missouri Foundation of Health is conducting a series of forums around the state to influence public policy about the uninsured. This alone, with the Health department crusading, shows an immediate need for health care for every American.

The article also states that Missouri is one of the 12 states with the largest percent of uninsured. It emphasized the growing problem of denial of dental care for Americans, the serious health problems that poses, how Medicaid no longer covers adult dental care, and even how few dentists even accept Medicaid for children. The Foundation of Health stated that it will take major health care change to help Missouri's uninsured.

Truman vs. Blunt: The Republican Strategy

This weekend was something else to see in the news.

It was a banner weekend for Republicans in the media. Along with Bob Ney's conviction, Colin Powell, John McCain, and 3 Republican Senators distancing themselves from President Bush, it made for a great weekend for Democrats.

And I believe the best is yet to come.

Election day will be here in a little over a month. And I hope voters realize by that time they have an opportunity to put our government back in the people's hands.

The top story in yesterday's Kansas City Star was about Republicans having to re-adjust their strategy. Everything is going bad right now for the Republican party. Everything. The only thing they have to talk to voters, out of all of our issues, is the 'war on terror'. And that is even something that is getting worse among Republicans.

Republicans are in a real struggle right now, between the president and 2 of the most respected figures of their party, John McCain and Colin Powell.

The Republican party's entire campaign is hinging on the war on terror and homeland security. Let's take a look at that for a minute.

The whole Military tribunal issue has been a global embarrassment for the Republican party. Thank goodness McCain, along with 2 other Republican Senators, are standing in the way of Bush's tribunal plan. It is nice to see that there are at least a few Republicans out there that agree with the American majority, and the Supreme Court, that this violates basic principles of American's fairness, and endangers our troops.

Even our U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Bush's military tribunals are unconstitutional.

Being an Army veteran, this government sickens me with the way they are handling this.

And what about Bush's 'eavesdropping' program? His warrantless surveillance program? Talk about violation of our rights...thank goodness a federal judge ordered the NSA's warrantless surveillance program illegal. His 'terrorist surveillance program' is being rebelled against by civil liberty Republicans on the House. It's nice to see that there is chaos in Washington among Republicans.

And what about my opponent, Roy Blunt? I would like to hear his stand on this. For the record, my opponent Roy Blunt has a voting record with President Bush, voting on Bush's side 95% of the time. Ninety-five percent. That should say something right there.

The Republican party continues say that their party is best equipped to keep Americans safe. They love the position we are at right now. Fear and power. That represents the Republican party. Fear and power. You don't see my opponent Roy Blunt, or other Republicans talking about issues that are important, like national health care, ending the fight on obesity, health and nutrition, social security, education, protecting our environment from global warming, helping the worker by raising the minimum wage, freedom of speech, and helping the people. They don't want to talk about important issues for the people. It's all about fear and power.

Let's talk for a minute about Homeland Security. Here are some facts:

*The 9/11 commission gave the Bush administration poor grades when it came to security.
*A homeland security committee gave the administration its worst grades in regards to protecting our borders, ports, airports, trains and transit systems.
*Much of our country's hazardous materials rest in the hands of the private sector, and are being unregulated.
*Katrina showed us how equipped our security structure is when handed a natural disaster. We are supposed to secure our homeland. Where was our government when our people needed them?

Bush and our Republican controlled government has focused too much energy and resources on the war on Iraq, diverting focus on what is necessary to protect Americans at home.

The war on terror? Homeland Security? These are supposed to be the safest issues for the Republicans this election year. And it's being shown and proven, most Americans disagree with our Republican controlled government. Even the Republicans cannot agree. Some party, isn't it? This is an example of what is making America a global laughing stock. I hope the voters see these facts for themselves. We have the power to work together to make change. Let's do that.

I'm just an underdog, against a political powerhouse this fall. I love being the underdog. It makes me not afraid to say what I think about anything. Nothing at all. I'm just a poor American worker, like most Americans. I have no insurance. Just like most Americans. I am tired and sick of seeing the direction our country is taking. Just like most Americans. I want to give you, the voters, a real choice this fall.

Do not be afraid to vote for change. Change is good. And change will make us a better America.

The Perverted Course of Missouri Justice

Q. Was the Missouri Supreme Court collectively incompetent, prejudice and partial, or were they corruptly influenced by the enterprise Sprint Corporation?

It would seem that FiredupMissouri.com isn't as fired up as their "Restore the Spirit of 1776, Be a Fired up blogger" slogan would lead us to believe.  I submitted this blog early last Friday morning and by 9 am I was censored when they pulled my blog.

Perhaps the administrators of this website don't truly understand what the Spirit of 1776 is all about.

Maybe they'll do a little research on the real spirit of 1776 before they censor me again.

Below is the complaint I recently sent to Chairman Gary M. Gaertner of The Missouri Commission on Retirement, Removal, and Discipline hoping they would investigate the corruption I allege against the Missouri Supreme Court.

In a letter dated May 26, 2006 Chairman Gary M. Gaertner stated that my allegations fall outside the authority of The Commission and was an issue for the appellate court. To the contrary the Court of Appeals clerk and a Judicial Watch lawyer in Washington D.C. informed me that this matter lies squarely with this Commission.
