News yesterday from the Governor's office was that Public Service Commission member Steve Gaw would finally be replaced with an appointee of Matt Blunt's choosing. Blunt picked his former counsel Terry Jarrett to fill Gaw's spot on the Commission, serving a term scheduled to end in 2013.
The governor has yet to release the 111-question survey that I'm sure Jarrett was required to complete as a part of his application process. Similarly, the Blunt administration has yet to make public notes or transcripts from any interviews conducted by Blunt or his staff with Mr. Jarrett regarding the PSC job, or to release the nature of the questions asked or the names of those who suggested questions.

Two PSC Commissioners have been trying to find out whether AT&T violated Missouri privacy laws when they turned over customer data to the NSA. The feds have now sued them.
Commissioners Steve Gaw and Robert Clayton subpoenaed AT&T and asked them to provide the legal authority under which they revealed the confidential information of their Missouri customers. Thus far, AT&T has failed to respond in a substantive manner.Â

On Monday, Cole County Circuit Judge Tom Brown will consider the request by two members of the Missouri PSC that he order AT&T to respond to their subpoenas from last month that ask AT&T under what legal authority they released the privacy information of Missouri phone and Internet customers.
Commissioners Steve Gaw and Robert Clayton issued subpoenas on June 19, 2006 and June 22, 2006 requesting that AT&T and their affiliates produce the following documents:
1. Any order, subpoena or directive of any court, tribunal or administrative agency or officer whatsoever, directing or demanding the release of customer proprietary information relating to Missouri customers of [the AT&T affiliated entitites].

Governor Matt Blunt fired Missouri's consumer advocate yesterday, almost certainly at the urging of SBC and AmerenUE, both monopolies and regulated utilities.
The state's official consumer advocate has been fired by Republican Gov. Matt Blunt's administration after a legislative session in which he criticized "the anti-consumer initiatives" backed by Blunt and Republican lawmakers.
