Exclusive: Graves To Resign Post As U.S. Attorney

Sources tell Fired Up! that Todd P. Graves, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, will be resigning his position.

Through his spokesman, Don Ledford, U.S. Attorney Graves declined to comment for this story.

Speculation in Jefferson City was rampant over the reasons for Graves decision. The most popular theory is that he fears that there may be investigations coming before his office that he would find personally uncomfortable to oversee. He might also be concerned about having to suffer the public embarassment of recusing himself from very important cases because of his conflicts of interest.

Graves has been no stranger to controversy during his tenure as U.S. Attorney. Last year, Graves was criticized for accepting a lucrative no-bid contract from the administration of Governor Matt Blunt, a politician whose actions are subject to scrutiny by Graves' office. The contract is worth several million dollars to Graves and his wife.

By tradition, senior U.S. Senator Kit Bond would play a key role in the selection of Graves replacement.

However, given the ongoing feud between the Graves family, Senator Bond, and GOP House Speaker Rod Jetton, the selection process in this situation might be quite complex.

In addition, given the recent questions over Speaker Rod Jetton's financial shenanigans, Bond's role in the Missouri Millenium Fund, and the fee office pyramid scheme run by Governor Blunt and his political allies--including Graves, his family, and their political associates--the Public Integrity Unit at the Justice Deparment may also weigh in on the selection process.

Stay tuned for further developments...

WEAR YOUR HIP BOOTS ON THIS STORY!

How disappointing.  Does the Star and/or Graves think any halfway intelligent person is going to believe this bull?  He resigns quickly by March 24 to work on a presidential campaign in 2008?  Oh please!  Guess it's just a matter of a little time until the REAL story surfaces.  Gracie

Hopefully our next US Attorney...

...is as vigilant as was Todd about protecting our children from the evil scourge of blogs.

Graves also issued a stern warning for parents. Kids should be kept off internet blogs ie., web-logs. These amount to personal diaries that are anything but private.

Pay-for-play fee office scandals I can live with, but children reading blogs is just unconscionable.

Does he get to keep the fee offices?

Obviously the only reason that the Graves family got two fee offices was to protect Blunt from getting caught in a Tom DeLay situation. So my question is, now that he can't prosecute the Blunt administration, does he get to keep the fee offices or do those now go to the next biggest campaign donor?

GRAVES RESIGNATION

Great story, Roy!  Best resignation I've heard about in a long time.  Let's just keep 'em coming.  And let's just bring the feds in NOW.  Missouri has been embarrassed over and over by these people.  We used to be an honorable state.  Let's head back in that direction.  Bye, Todd.  Tough luck.  Gracie
